I just moved my home office around and had to disconnect everything and set it back up. I have a printer that was connected through a powered USB hub. I had a little trouble setting it up orginally, but once it started working it worked. I have no idea why it started working. I was doing a rinse and repeat methodology and it just started working.
Now it won't work through the same hub. Same printer, PC and USB hub. They just have been separated and reconnected. If I delete the printer and try to reinstall with it connected to the hub, the PC can't find the printer. If I connect it directly, the PC is almost joyous that it has 'discovered' my printer and installs it without prompting.
Right now I have the USB printer cable running across my keyboard to reach the PC. Not the best of circumstances. If I can't figure out how to make the hub work, then I'll buy a 6 ft USB cable extension and be good to go.
How can I get the system to work like it did before I moved it? Short of putting the office back like it was.

Re: USB Printer
I've found that with some items, plugging in to a different USB port confuses the computer in to thinking it is a new device or does not recognise the device. With stuff I plug in every now & then I have to remember which port I originally plugged it in to & set it up. Like my Sat Nav for instance, if I dont plug the base station charger in to the right port it doesn't recognise it.

Re: USB Printer
Had same experience as Gav.
My Zboard gaming keyboard is plugged into a hub.
When I moved it, the hub got plugged into a diffterent port on the PC and the keyboard to a different port on the hub. The PC would not recognize it.
After some trial and error of moving to different ports, I finally found the right combination
