My new machine

This will be mine!!! :D

In about 6 months time :(

We are employing someone to do some work remotely for our verse writing department (I work for a company that manufactures greeting cards) & they needed a machine to link up with a mac which is on site. Thought I would get the chap sourcing the machine to get a high spec device which I can grab when it comes back. We will then wipe it & get the Windows 7 upgrade put on. I will have a machine where the W key works all the time :D with a nice big super screen.
A good Christmas present to myself I think. :D :D :D

Rough conversion to $ is 2100.

Still as work are paying I do not care too much. Oh & I have a serious underspend on my budget this year so I am looking to pick up my purchasing a bit in the second half. I think I may need to buy the matching mouse that goes with it too. I need to work on this I think, hmmm maybe I'll get the docking station :D

Gav: Two caveats I'd suggest to consider:

For one thing, "HP Ultra Brightview Infinity Display" sounds glossy to me... And that would be a big no-no for me, although that doesn't mean that has to go for everyone - nevertheless I'd at least recommend to check it out before purchase.

Well, and while the GT130M is a slightly faster and improved successor of the 9600M-GT, it might still struggle with the most recent games due to the high native resolution of the display. So for gaming purposes a less highly resolving display would actually be the smarter choice. But in case the high resolution should be necessary for other applications, you might at least want to check out how good the display can interpolate lower resolutions.

Apart from that the hardware looks good to me - the machine even still has got a FireWire port. On the software side I'd suggest to first get rid of the Norton Internet Security suite, 'cause in my experience that's a pretty terrible resource hog that foremost manages to make a computer feel about half as fast as it actually is...

Greetings from Munich!
