My family is thinking about buying a new computer. It seems like they are only selling computers with Vista. And a little bird told me Vista doesn't go so well with BF1942. I don't know what to do, should i keep my XP or should i buy a Vista? The XP is so slow now, it's 5 years old now. We won't buy a computer right now, because of my sister and my mom's ME. So we don't have very much money now. But in a year, maybe a new computer will come. And i bought BF2142 for 2 years ago, i think. And it didn't work, and guess what? I didn't even get my money back!!
What do you guys use? Is Vista so bad? Should i keep my XP and keep being slow?
New computer

Re: New computer
Hi Cesar,
you can get BF1942 to run on Vista but it has problems, often it will just close for no reason and you have to start again.
One solution is to create a partition on your hard-drive and have a dual boot system, you will need an XP disk to do this though
I wonder though, are you getting rid of your old computer when you get a new one?
If you are keeping the old one then you can just use that for BF42 and the new one for other stuff.
By next year there will be a new OS anyway - Windows 7

Re: New computer
On my side, I never ever had any problems with Vista, besides the normal 'run in compatibilty mode' and 'run as an administrator'. Vista has run all my games well, despite being a RAM ogre.
Anybody knows if W7 will cause problems with BF1942 ? Anybody tried it with the beta ? Now that they have found a way to get PB to work with it.

Re: New computer
I get around with my 5 years old PC with updated graphics board. Have these specs and 3D-mark-performance.
I only play BF1942 (including mods). Guess I have to buy a new PC if I'm gonna play newer games.
See articleabout backing your system to XP if you have Vista (In Swedish.)

Re: New computer
It took a while but but I now have BF42 working on Windows 7 RC1. I would like to say that I did something clever to get it to work but I believe it was just the most recent patch that fixed it. The game looks great on Win7, better then on XP with AA and AF turned on. I haven't tried BFV, BF2 or 2142 yet.
I guess my point is no matter what you get make sure you can either downgrade or upgrade from Vista on your new PC.
