Hey Guys,
Tech Question: My Sound Blaster Audigy Card died the other day so I reinstalled my onboard sound card (AC '97) driver (most recent) to temp. use til I get another card. But when I play BF42 now it's very choppy, like I have huge lag! When I turn the sound off in settings it runs smooth like it did before. I've google'd it and it seems to have happend to a few others running it with ac97 but I could'nt see an answer other than "buy another sound card". I was wondering if this has ever happend to you guys? I've tried all the tech stuff (dxdiag etc.) and was wondering if someone knows of a driver fix or something like that.
Until I buy another sound card, if you see me just staring off into nowhere or doing some sort of weird dance you know why.

Hi.
Would be nice to know your windows version but until then, try reducing or disabling hardware sound acceleration in windows and in Bf42.
Reducing sample quality and sound channels (in game options) could also help a bit.

Re: Battlefield 1942 sound problems
Hi,
I'm using XP, I've reduced hardware acceleration in windows and reduced sound quality and channels in game. It helps a little but its still nowhere near how smooth it was before (not to mention it sound like I'm shooting in a tin can and rather than a "BOOM" I hear a little tiny "bo" . It's playable but after a while when you get shot a few times in a row because the screen lags and you can focus on the guy It drives ya crazy and I can't play. I can play with no sound but its nowhere near as fun.

Ah the simple solutions are always the best
Couldn't imagine playing without proper sound & headset now.

At last we get to enjoy the dulcet tones of Z-man.
Just hope you don't talk as much as you post as we won't get a word in edge ways
