In spite of her age, she has no job, not exactly a stunner & not the sharpest knife in the drawer.
However she shows a self belief, the willingness to be true to herself in the face of a great pressure. Look at the reactions before & after the performance. They were laughing at her before she started, but undaunted she stood up in front of them & gave them her best.
