Luke vs Anakin/Vader
I'm watching Return of the Jedi and am at the scene where Luke opens a big ole can of whoopa$$ on Vader. Was Vader holding back? Was the suit holding him back? Could he just not keep up with the raw power of the Force Luke was drawing upon?
As the subject says...
Luke vs Anakin/Vader just prior to Obi Wan making him into a door mat, who'd win?
I'd be placing my money on Anakin/Vader.

Luke vs Vader before the suit and just prior to being made a doormat....
It would have been Vader easily. When he was inducted as a Sith and given his Sith
name, Darth Vader, Anakin became power absolute. More powerful than the Emperor himself.
Anakin had more training than Luke and more raw power with the Force because
he was created directly from it.
Luke was created naturally thru Padme and Anakin which means he's a filtered
image of Anakin and Padme.
Think of all the resources Anakin had available to him for training when the
Jedi were at their peak of power and ignorance. It was almost limitless.
Luke on the other hand had only Yoda and a "restricted apparition" of Obi Wan.
Ummm yeah..Vader easily.

Not necessarily, Obi Wan was in physical form for the majority of Luke's early training. But even so, Luke can never measure to what Anakin was. Anakin was trained ever since he was a small child, Luke started his Jedi training when he was MUCH older. Also, lets not forget how Anakin was first primarily trained by Qui Gon who Obi Wan was apprentice to, thus Qui Gon's knowledge of the force was superior to Obi Wan's. This would mean that Anakin discovered the force under an elite source of wisdom. When you compare the training comparison's, Anakin's was far more extensive and far more rigorous. All Yoda told Luke to do was raise an X-Wing out of a mudpit and fight a floating ball with a blindfold. What is the point? Anakin>Luke (pre-suit)

Good point. He'd probably have to give up being an evil henchman and go into politics.[JiF]rIot wrote:I believe it would hinder because when one becomes a zombie, their normal conscious is taken away and replaced by a blank. Since the force requires an intense amount of focus and consentration, it is unable to be used by a blank (substitute) mind....
And I guess Sly hasn't seen Shakespear use the force.....

I think you all need some couch time with Step.
In their prime, Obi Wan would kick both their butts. Anger was Anakin's greatest strength, but in many ways his greatest weakness. I just realized I need to rip my DVD's and make a video of nothing but the Lightsaber battles. How cool would that be?
Of course, I'll never find the time to do it.

I think that the PRIMARY reason for Anakin to lose to Obi-Wan would be bacause his anger. Often anger leads to recklessness, that we've seen many times with Anakin. And actually, we have seen this battle already, in Ep. III where Anakins anger and arogance causes his loss against Obi Wan in the lava.

Excellent point, Dandy. Do you think Step could have successfully intervened with Anakin to prevent him from becoming Darth assuming Step lived in the future in a galaxy far, far away and wasn't a real person? Maybe he'd have a cool levitating couch.[JiF]Dandyman wrote:I think you all need some couch time with Step.
