Skype is fantastic. I have been using it for years, talk to people all over the world with video and it's flawless.

Stickam.com is a vidoe broadcasting site that I use a lot. It's has a flash based app and your account/profile is portable to any machine with a camera. Use that and the free application 'ManyCam' to add special effects.. text scrolls.. anything like that that you may be interest in. It works well and it's free!

I'm personally a fan of Skype as well. I've noticed a much better quality in video and audio, although sometimes (when it's being touchy or finicky) it makes you want to throw your laptop across the room screaming "BACK TO HELL, DEMON!!!"
