Starting from scratch...

Post by mbm »

I built a brand new computer, just got hi-speed for it, and have windows 7 beta. I also bought a "new" copy of bf compendium. I can't get a server list when I go to multiplay - it's blank. Also need help getting the latest punkbuster installed and updated. Much help would be appreciated...all I wanna do is play with you guys again. Shout to canned corn, mini-rambo, lonewolf mcquade and all the other righteous dudes out there.

Thanks

Have you patched it up to 1.6 and then to 1.61?

I have decided to produce and sell a strong alcoholic drink called "Responsibly".
That way everyone in the country can get wasted drinking Responsibly.
And all the other drinks makers will be advertising for me on their cans with the slogan "please drink Responsibly".
Probably will annoy the government as well.

If memory serves me right, PunkBuster is not supported by Windows 7 beta. Evenbalance is waiting for the final release before changing any coding. And I know some people who couldn't get any of the BF games running with W7 but others who could, just not on PB servers.

I still think that Windoze 7 is the root of your issues. You can try finding the PB service files and changing them to run in compatibility mode... do it for the BF exes as well... but other than that you may have to downgrade or use something like partition magic and create a dual boot system!

Just a quickie. Have you a contingency in place for when the beta of windows 7 expires. I'm sure I read somewhere that this was going to be around August time.

I had planned on buying windows 7 in August when it comes out - something tells me I should skip right over that vista crap...

BF1942 is problematic on Vista, I am suprised it runs at all on W7.
You need an XP dual boot or an Virtual Machine with XP.
