Anyone have any experience with TV tuner cards??
Was looking at the ATI Wonder Elite one as "my choice".
Just want the TV watching capability, not a new vid card (my Radeon 9800 PRO still is good enuff for me!)
Supposed to be highly rated for quality. Any others (based on picture quality)??

I have had 2 Hauppauge TV cards. I have no complaints. The one I have now has an infared sensor that you attach to the cable box. It can read the cable signal on most cable boxes and allow you to program recordings and change channels on its own... you can then use Titan TV (free) and just click on the icon in the program guide and record that show etc...it has a remote. Did you already get this WB?
I actually ordered this guy the other week:

Still hasn't arrived but it's a USB and comparable to the Pinnacle one Grimp was talking about. The remote is gonna be nice to watch TV on my 22" widescreen at home (:)) and the USB antenna is going to be nice when on the road or at football tailgates next year.

Sly,
no - I talked to ATI. the wonder elite only works with analog signal. I'm holding off till I find the technology that works well for what I want (with really good reception!).
I'm no electrician or EE, but would have thought it still should work if you were receiving a digital signal (ie. just would
not need to convert it for ya, which is what those cards do!).
been trying to find out if the HDTV ones (and the ones Mentat mentioned) actually do work for digital cable. been looking thru reviews, etc to find out.
to be clear (which I had to explain to ATI like a child), I do NOT care about the digital CHANNELS that some people receive past CH125.
it's just being able to receive the digital SIGNAL that I am crying for. found out that SciFi channel is basically only broadcast in digital everywhere... UGH!!!!
supposedly, the FCC has mandated the cable providers to switch to 100% by Mar 1st, 2007 (this keeps changing). so it will all the more important for the technology to catch up with the rest of society.
i'm not worried about the price - I'll pay what it takes to get the best!!

WARNING! DANGER! This is NOT Waterboy. Never in recorded history has he not cared about the price. Perhaps he's been replaced by a Cylon or Meerkat lookalike.[JiF]LtWaterboy wrote:i'm not worried about the price - I'll pay what it takes to get the best!! ;)LT
