I've had AVG 8.0 for awhile myself.

Starting having problems with BF42, but not any other games.
Disconnects, lag, CD not read, etc.

Got rid of AVG and no more problems as of last week.

Also put my CD one time in the DVD player on my PC, of course it would not recognize it.

Canned,

I think you might have hit on somethin...

FYI. Just talked to Kelly and determined that the only thing that has changed on my system since last time I had BF1942 running (with Vista),
was the AVG (used to have McAfee till subscription ran out!).

I just installed BF42 on the external HD via my laptop from work (with XP) and it worked there.

I really hate to try it, but next attempt is to uninstall AVG and try that. Again, that sucks, cuz I had it turned off when I installed & tried to run (with no luck).
It just might not like AVG at all being present. Hate to do it, since its a nice & free AV program.

If it turns out to be the root cause, any other free AV software that people might suggest to get instead (and that might work with BF1942)??

X your fingers....
