server list update problems...

Anyone else having problems with the server list update function within the BF1942 client lately? I'm asking, 'cause for about two weeks now the update button hasn't been working as usual anymore for me: Before, when I clicked the update button, the list would fill up pretty much in one go with well over 500 servers. Whereas now it seems that the update function takes much longer to finish, and the server list appears to fill up in several chunks with a few pauses in between. And while the list still seems to indicate more than 500 servers initially (i.e. right after clicking the update button), the number of servers in total seems to decrease while the update function is running. So I wonder what might be the problem...

P.S.: For the record: I had noticed similar problems with the update function before a few times, but never for longer than some three days max. - so I had always assumed the problems not to be caused on my side. But this time the problem has already been consistent for a fortnight...

I know the problem you're talking about since I've also experienced it a few times. Sometimes it worked fine, sometimes it didn't. Anyway, I don't know what might cause these troubles and I'didn't care that much until today because I barely use the server list...

Lini, it might have to do with the updates and maintenance that Gamespy was doing on their servers. And since they are not very customer service oriented, they never announced anything. We found out via Dice because it was also causing problems with BF2 and BF2142.

It should be back to normal soon if not already.

Thanks for the infos, guys. But pardon my ignorance: What does Gamespy have to do with the server listings? Do they host the server for EA/Dice that collects the BF server infos and provides it to the clients - or something like that?

In a way, the server search that your game (BF for instance) is done via Gamespy, even if it doesn't mention so in your server page.
