Re: Server Maintenance TODAY -Last update Jan22 1345-
Server seems to have a life of its own for map rotation (unless someone was playing tricks in RM). We played Eagle's nest twice in a row, another map and again Eagles nest, all in a span of about 1 1/2 hour with Gazala in twice as well.
And me and some others from Quebec (nobody else mentionned anything when asked) were experiencing connection problems every 5 to 10 minutes, causing serious lag and loss of virtual lives ! That happened between 2:00 and 3:00 pm EST.

There's nothing we can really do about certain people having lag as it's probably something to do with the routing between the server and you. If it were everyone then we could do something.
As for the map cycle weirdness I believe it has something to do with the coop to cq cycle change. I'm not sure why eagles_nest kept coming up as it is not set as a starting map of either cycle. I will have to keep an eye on it. At this point I have no idea and am just guessing as the timing was right, and today was the first time it tried to change automatically.

We'll keep you posted on whats happening on the server.
We do want to keep that baby up for another 20 years at least.
By the way, I never noticed before but you guys have no link for donations to keep the box running. I usually give to all th clan or community where I plat as I know it can add up after a while. Should I understand that youo guy are ''squatting'' a server somewhere 7

I had no problems last night even when the server was uber busy.
So far so good. Apart from the multi map play as mentioned above.

Zouga's trying to rip off some Canadians again. As far as i now the main admins are just hijacking a server somewhere

Memory's slowly coming back to me. I think I remember Grimp or Tissue telling me 2 or 3 years ago that the server was ''hosted'' graciously at of of them's company.[JiF]FrenchAfroman wrote:Zouga's trying to rip off some Canadians again. Re: Server Maintenance TODAY -Last update Jan22 1345-
For myself, the lag issue has definately improved with the Linux installation when running 32 slots
Today, the server crashed/disconnected twice, but I noticed a pattern: The bots had stacked up on one team, so I asked a few players to switch teams to even out the human balance, and as they did this, the server crashed. The second time exactly the same thing happened, bots teamstacked, people switched followed by a crash.
Could this be an issue with autobalancing and bot/human ratios? People have remarked the server crashes less in conquest mode - No bot-balancing for the game to get hung up on.

Yes it crashes more often in coop, there's really not much we can do about it as far as I know.

Re: Server Maintenance TODAY -Last update Jan22 1345-
maybe replace some co-ops maps with conquest maps in the rotation cause now with 32 slots the server is almost never empty, mostly over 10 people so no need of bots. i had players request for a map change cause they didnt like the bots

I agree. We mostly just don't need the bots, so why not leave them out? Besides that, stupid bots really suck sometimes...[JiF]FrenchAfroman wrote:maybe replace some co-ops maps with conquest maps in the rotation cause now with 32 slots the server is almost never empty, mostly over 10 people so no need of bots. i had players request for a map change cause they didnt like the bots

Yes the Linux server seems great - thanks guys
32 slots and much better connectivity.
I too noticed that when lots of players try to correct the automatic player balance by switching teams it more often than not crashes the map.
The dicussion of the bots issue just goes round and round - I think we have a reasonable compromise without getting too complicated or silly. For players who connect outside the peak periods it is nice to have a bit of company. Also an Admin is less likely to be on during the quiet periods so there would not be the option to change to co-op.
Plus Udo Koch is my best mate so you can't get rid of him!!

I will keep an eye on the player trends and change the CQ/COOP schedule as needed. Perhaps a 4pm EST change to CQ is later than it needs to be now.
