BFV-sever a holy cow?

Post by [JiF]rix »

I have noticed that very few ppl uses the BFV-server. (See last month: http://www.gametracker.com/server_info/ ... 203:15567/)

Just curious if that server could be used for something else, like custom maps, Stonehenge or whatever to increase fun per spent mips-bandwith ratio?

Thats not a bad idea Rix, and include some normal rotation maps with some server-side modifications? Like Shermans on the decks of the aircraft carriers on Coral Island. The bailers will think it's christmas! - Don't laugh. I already did it!

there is a mod called BFI by Dweller_Benthos that has destroyers with AA guns instead of the MGs
I bet you could put some of these into Coral that could move around, that would be awesome
plus some Subs too - hmm, wonder if you could put a suvivable aa gun that could dive with a sub and still work when it resurfaced.

anyway enough of the hijacking!

I like the idea of a mod server, perhaps with some 'practice' maps, I have a sniper, tank and arty practice map installed
plus there are at least 5 flying practice maps that i know of.

Discussion has come up before about changing the BFV server, it has been very low in player numbers for some time
part of the reason that nothing was done, was that we did not want to split the player numbers between the servers
there are times that there might only be 10-15 players on and if some of these are playing on the other server we end up with ony 5-7 players on each.
this would not really serve us any good.
that said I would like the option,
I have BFV on both the comps i play on but have never really gotten into it like BF42
and would probably only play on the modded/practice maps every now and again, pluls I would not like to lose CMM, it has picked up a nice following now.

thats the end of the ramblings for now

Zoug, you wouldn't happen to have the names (or better yet the links) to those on fileplanet would you?

You've seen me fly, you know I need as much practice as I can get.
I have decided to produce and sell a strong alcoholic drink called "Responsibly".
That way everyone in the country can get wasted drinking Responsibly.
And all the other drinks makers will be advertising for me on their cans with the slogan "please drink Responsibly".
Probably will annoy the government as well.

We're probably gonna switch the BF:V server to Linux at some point as well. When that happens I think setting it up as a real "Pot Luck" server would be fun. Could have FH, DC, and other mods along with practice maps in the rotation. BF:V is pretty dead imho, but I will load it so we can run it if we want. Wouldn't expect anything to happen with the server real quick though, it's kinda low priority. :)
