Post by [JiF]Brick »

Came across this today.

Maybe a way to run BF1942 on Vista.
Unfortunately, I deleted the Game off my Vista box when I reverted to XP.
I Will give this a try when time permits.

B,

Wish it would have said something about "games" as well as other software, so my hopes are still low... :(

Me too, did a little more research....

The possible solution Requires Microsoft Virtual PC (free)
From my experience with virtulization, I can't imagine getting game-quality video.
I use VMware workstation ($189), it's a lot better. "You get what you pay for"

I will dig some more.
VMware has a product called ACE witch let's you virtulize a PC to a flash drive/portable HD.
So, in theory, you could transport an XP system with BF1942 loaded to another PC, plug into USB and play.
I still think the video will be the showstopper.

Anyone know if BF1942 can install/run on linux?
Something like Ubuntu has a small footprint.

It should be able to.

You need the Linux client files for PB thou.

go to their website & make sure you install/download them.

I hope that works, I'm sick of all the problems Vista has been giving me with this game. If it doesn't just close the game on me, it freezes my comp up. Usually when I'm in the middle of having a good game :)
