download a virtual disk drive program like Alcohol 120% (http://www.alcohol-soft.com/) and then get a copy of BF from a torrent service
or don't be cheap xx and go buy a copy £9.99 for all Vanilla and 2 expansion packs from Game in UK
or $4.99 from Target in US
you know it makes sense

I think it is possible but I don't know enough to tell you how to go about it, I think you've got to have an ISO image of the game cd on your computer plus relevant software, and obviously you'd need an original undamaged cd to begin with.
What I do suggest, if your cd-rom is only scratched or scuffed, is to find a local gaming store or electronics retailer that has a cd polishing service to remove the damage, and it's quite cheap too - I paid about $5 to have my damaged GTA disc polished.
Of course if the disc is cracked or has indentations etc, then you're going to need a new one. Which nowadays is about the price of a polishing service anyway :)

H-K: You just need the usual noCD patch or patched executable. I'm using the one from Gamecopyworld ever since I had a problem with the dvd-rom/cd burner combo drive in my old notebook.

Thanks for getting back to me guys...First of all I tried to buy a new disk with no luck (I'm not exactly in town town London).
Lini if you can send me a link to where you got your crack that worked, that would be awesum...I already tried one crack, but it was for an earlier version of 1942 and didn't work. Thanks again.

H-K: I'm using the 1.61 noCD by "The Joker SS" from Gamecopyworld. Just not sure anymore, whether that one already worked for the latest BF1942 version - or whether one needed to install and patch to 1.6 first, then install the noCD patch and then finally run the 1.6 to 1.61b patch or whatever... But I think it worked as is.
