Pacific maps

Post by [JiF]corn »

Is there any way that the Pacific theatre maps could be modded on server side so that planes will spawn as fast as Coral Sea map.
I believe there could be more fun with a full server if you had the skies full of planes.
Maybe even make a B-17 or other bombers spawn on island along with fighters. :o

Noooooo, damn fly boys. For us boys that prefer to keep our feet firmly on the ground, there's pleanty enough stuff flying about as it is. I think thought about balance went in to most of the maps & i ouldn't want more stuff raining down on my head than i get already

I'm just thinking that carriers should have more than 2 planes.
Remember that means more planes for your team too.I've been other servers that have more planes,it seems to be a little easier to go on foot, because the planes are shooting at each other.
Maybe we could try it on the Midway map only for a test run. :o

HARRICK WANT MORE PLANES! More challege, and depending on the amount of planes, would there be enough room on deck of carrier for successful takeoff. Otherwise, sounds awesome to me.

Depends on teams and pilots attitude i think.

With few flyboys on one team and too much flyboys on the other, the heavy imbalance already existing due to better US and weaker jap weapons will be even worse.

Also consider what keeps happening with those flying hawks bombing every disappearing vehicle whenever minimap shows em the prey is redy to be bombed. Bad enough in anzio, bocage conquest (really bad imbalance due to the bomber) or husky sometimes and now try to imagine what would happen with ten planes only waiting to bomb anything that moves.

In my opinion, you cannot decide such things when you do not know what teams you have to deal with.

way i see it,
on wake especially the jap planes take ages to respawn and the bots often nick them before you get a chance on coop
you can adjust the settings that dictate how quickly a plane respawns after it is destroyed (max and min wait times) but you can also set the max number of planes spawned, if you set it to 2 for each type, then a new plane will spawn when one is taken, but if both are aloft, another won't spawn till one gets destroyed.
do this for all 4 planes and you can have a max of 8 pilots airborne at any one time

there was an alternative post on this before (was it you corn?) that discussed the idea of not allowing vehicle respawns. This way teams would have to conserve their assets, once destroyed, its gone!
lets use this thread to explore possibilities and I will play around with the map settings.

I like to think I'm a fairly good flyer, that is, I watch the map for friendlies and can usually hit watch I shoot at.
I don't constantly buzz the main base but if I see a target I blast away. I'm usually trying to give air cover for guys on the ground trying to cap flags.

I like the game the way it is. Too many planes spawning and you'll wind up with a bunch of plane-spawn-camping.
you can also set the max number of planes spawned, if you set it to 2 for each type, then a new plane will spawn when one is taken, but if both are aloft, another won't spawn till one gets destroyed.
It would be cool to have the planes spawn faster if this setting is activated. It seems like it's already like that on some maps.
there was an alternative post on this before (was it you corn?) that discussed the idea of not allowing vehicle respawns. This way teams would have to conserve their assets, once destroyed, its gone!
Now this is a cool idea as long as the limit of vehicles is not too extreme.
If you know you won't have a plane waiting for you back at the main base, maybe you won't fly striaght into a bunch of AA fire.
Also, I think it would force a lot of pilots to spawn as engineers so they would be able to repair their planes.
The down side would be noob pilots jumping into planes and wasting them without a clue.

I'm all for a faster spawn time on the planes, a la Coral Sea, but more planes no.
I'm not sure about the losing vehicles once they are destroyed. On Wake this could be a severe disadvantage for Axis, if as you say inexperienced jumps in flys off & bang. Limits the ability to reach the island & defend the ships. The Allies will be able to land & repair much more easily as they start with the airfield.
