Yeah, you could do like me and play with no problems on a 1200$ Vista machine  :P

Sir Die,

I think the old addage, 'you get what you pay for' doesn't apply to MY situation!!! :(

LoL, looks like it. I'm wondering, would by any chance your machine be running Vista 64 bits ? That might be the source of your problem. Lots of drivers are not at ease with a 64 bit environment.

Sir - no. Been only using/installing from the 32-bit disk.
kind of funny - I mentioned this issue in another thread for someone else's problem.
I went back to make sure and the 64-bit disk was buried so no chance of it being used... :)

I still may not be doing the tricks/tips correctly. one of these days, will have to get a walk throu with someone while on teamspeak.
It might be another setting as well that is not configured (something in my security settings, files, software, etc that I just havent dug into).

Like I said, when it takes that much effort to get a game to play, it just aint worth it....

Yeah, I hear ya. Some people are having even worst problems trying to run BF2142 on some rigs, so I can understand.

I think Vista has a huge amount of compatibility issues, which is why my company and many others have held out in upgrading to Vista. Microsoft has never been backwards compatibility friendly with their o/s's. Had similar issues with 98 to XP back in the day.
