Newer Games

I'm looking at maybe upgrading my PC, and I'm thinking about upgrading my games too. I'm mostly playing BF42 now, but I'm looking at BF2 or COD4.. I also have PS3 and I'm still playing FarCry 2. What games are some of you playing? I've ruled out WoW (no offense! lol) I'm looking for something more FPS battle related. If there's a crew of JiFers playing a specific newer game, that may help me make a decision. What other games are we serving currently? Does anyone have BadCompany on ps3?

Far Cry 2 is unbelievable
try Left For Dead as well for some insane FPS action
CoD 5 World at War is also good

I just bought L4D yesterday, so I'm not ready to let you know how it is. As for CoD (Call of Hackers), couldn't care less. Tried the beta and then the real thing and I hate it. Maybe I compare it too much to BF1942 but it is not growing on me. And I'm still a BF2142 fan.

Newer Games?... Well, I was thinking the same thing a few days back but could't find demos for most of them..
So, loaded up Vuze (bit torrent client) and had a look around for demos... cant find any so spent eons downloading full cracked versions of..
Farcry 2.. Left 4 Dead... Call of Duty Waw. (biggest mastake i made this month) did somone say TROJAN! or maybe MALWARE.. HIJACKED browser..
I got the lot Gone are the days of downloading games (like I used to with my box of floppys )
Took ages to get back to normal..
But what did I think of the games??? Cod waw.. couldnt run it.. exe file bad, shame as I was looking forward to using the flame thrower...
Crysis.. loverly looking game preferd it to Left 4 Dead but you may like left for dead as it was your typical console style game.
Seen it all before on Resident evil games only nicer grafics. (a bit clostraphobic)
As for Farcry 2 very nice looking but still prefer crysis.. So im thinking about buying Crysis Warhead anyone know if this is worth it?

I have all the battlefields (bf42, rtr, swoww2, bf vietnam, bf2 complete collection pack, bf42 anthology.) collectorhollic not got 2142 as i dont like futuristic war games.. yes I know crysis is a little futuristic
but not to the extent of 2142

I have CDO4 and like it as it is modern day weapons.
I also have FFOW and love it more then most of my other games as it is (in my opinion) the most realistic FPS out there. There is a demo for FFOW.
I played CoD5 WaW and to me it was just another remake of BF42.
Crysis Warhead is an excellent game also and to me its worth the money.
Far Cry 2 is pretty good but not what I was expecting as it was a complete different critter from Far Cry.

Crysis Warhead and FFOW will both put your system through its paces.

Just to give you an idea of what I have in my box:
AMD 64 6400+ x2
4gig DDR2 Crucial ram
XFX 9800 GX2 for video processing
XFX 8600 GTS for physX processing
Vista Ultimate

I can run all settings in Crysis Warhead and FFOW maxed out at 1920x1200 res and they look awesome.

I do not like futuristic games either, not a bit, but I got hooked on 2142 because it is 1942 cube to the nth power !!!!!!

Take all that you like in 1942 and make it better

I haven't played most of the games you guys mentioned but I know of a game series called "Fear". It's pretty good.(to some extent) 2142 is pretty fun and I might play it moe often if ther was a JiF server. And BF2 is...okay

Painkiller - Game with Zombies and very funny Wapons
Conflict Global Storm and Conflict Vietnam - Shootinggame with 4 man Team and you can comand the other teamsnates (Bots)
Chrome Specforce - a shootinggame that play in the future
Darstar- you fly an spaceship. this game have a good story and it takes long time. You can play this game long time after end of Mission. Is a mix of Spaceshipshooting and trading.
GTA 3 GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas - games with a mix of shooter Carrace and runninggame

the Romans
Emergency 1,2,4 You are the Manager of a rescure Station and you have special missions (not easy when had never "work" before with rescure systems)

What are you looking for? Online or single player? Or both?

If you want multiplayer, then I agree with comments that COD5 is not great (however, still luv the single player storyline!).

Loved Crysis as single player - haven't tried any online with 1 or 2 (Warhead).

I'm surprised noone mentioned GOTY - FallOut 3!! lol...don't worry I wouldnt mention it either...heehee...

From a "slugfest" and "teamwork" standpoint, I hear L4Dead is very good.

Sniper Elite has the downside that after the first levels it mutates from sniper and commando game to standard, unbalanced FPS. Another great potential slaughtered on the altar of the mainstream.

If you only want multiplayer you might look into mmorpg world, where not only WOW but also free of charge games seem to be growing fast in the last time.

I´d also suggest looking through gamershell.com as very much free games are legally downloadable there.

There is another game my friend told me about. It is called "Ghost Recon 2". Its pretty good. It is not that new but it is fun. Singleplayer storyline is also pretty good.
