While in Nachadoches Texas (East Texas), painting my friends house for his sisters wedding we went to the gas station to get gas for the mower. We stood behind the car while the ancient (half bent over with scolioisis) owner/operator of the establishment filled our gas can with a lit cigarette hanging out of his mouth. He looked down at my license plate and saw the Connecticut tags. He said, "Connecticut?, Aint that a part of New York? Like a county or something.
BTW West Texas is beautiful. I was in a Dairy Queen in Marathon that had little saddles instead of seats..... Back on topic...

This weeks episode was interesting, but I am more interested in next weeks myself. As exclusively reported by TV Guide magazine, none other than George Takei has been cast as the father of Heroes' Star Trek-obsessed Hiro. "It was one of those lightning-bolt ideas," series creator Tim Kring tells TV Guide. Adds Masi Oka, who plays Hiro, "This is absolutely brilliant! I just hope I get to say, 'Dad! Sulu is my hero, not you!'"

OK, my wife and I just powered through 11 episodes last night and didn't go to bed until 2:30. There is a curse to having all of the episodes downloaded on a hard drive. Stopping in the middle takes an act of god. Here are a few of my thoughts so far...
Mahinder Suresh
My wife and I both agree that he may not have any special powers, but he has the coolest voice on the show. I mean this guy is perfect for the voice-over work. May I also suggest that he is quite obviously the Dr. Xavier of this little band of mutants.
Peter
I can't stop with the X-Men references, but Peter is definitely Rogue and going to be a serious force with the vampiric power. Instantly levels the playing field with whomever he faces.
Hiro
Definitely the power I want the most. A great character now as the goofy nerd, but future Hiro looks like a pretty cool character too.
Nikki
Right now her power is a major liability, but if she can get the alter-ego under control she could be a serious ...
Mr. Bennett
Is he the "Col. Stryker" or "Magneto" of this universe? If you haven't seen X-Men 2 you wouldn't get the reference and it would take too long to explain.
Sylar
Great villain.
Parkman
His power is a total blessing and a curse.
Haitian
Did he ever get more interesting.
Isaac
Dead Zone Johnny meets Van Gogh.
Overall, I love the pace of the show. It seems to move a lightning speed, but in fact doesn't cover too much ground.

Did you catch the Lost Room miniseries?
Definitely an interesting premise and
entertaining- though the ending was a
bit of a let down. I think they're feeling
things out for a possible series.
