The Server's Superheroes

Post by [JiF]55GaLLoNdrUm »

This post is for those of us who consistently defy the laws of nature, who perform the impossible game in and game out, for the best the server has to offer. Have you been accused of cheating? Multiple times? After schooling someone in the art of war, have you gotten responses like "how did you do that," "you just won't die," "no way that just happened," or anything along those line? Do you have the ability to dominate the enemy so greatly they he cannot comprehend what just happened? You are not alone.
And for the rest, those who witness these unexplainable acts and seek an answer....
There are superheroes among you.
This post is to recognize those few individuals whose actions and abilities can only be described as superhuman.
Are you a superhero? Do you know of any players that are? Recognition of the server's superheroes is long overdue.
One of my fellow superheroes, WinkyDeathKill, has developed a term..."Bullet-proof Backpack."
I propose that we institute a new group in JiF. A special unit, an agency, if you will, of elite JiFFers and regulars who display extraordinary skill and talent while leading their team to victory.
Gentlemen, I propose the forming of the Bullet-proof Backpack Bureau, an agency formed by server superheroes for server superheroes. I believe that this group could serve several purposes. Presently, I just have the basic idea laid out. Perhaps you guys could help me out with some ideas for what all this group will be about.
I suggest that any prospective member of the Bureau be nominated, voted upon, and elected to the unit. Anyone can nominate himself or anyone else, but must be voted in by JiFFers and current Bullet-proof agents.
This is one of the many action plans I intend to bring about if elected.
Remember, my fellow JiFFers, vote 55 in '08!

55 What a truly awful idea!
The notion that we should have members who are in a superior class based on how difficult you are to kill or some other such criteria.
The group here is based on a load of chaps & 1 chapess who like gaming & having a bit of fun together. To start labeling players as being better than their peers would, in my opinion detract from this.
We all know who are good players, we do not need to start handing out badges to rub the 'not so good' players noses in it!

Gav, lol. It was kind of in jest, as most of my posts are. I thought it was a funny idea for the discussion boards. Just figured you guys might get a kick out of it. I like to make satircal posts about things, where I pretend to be serious, but the spirit of the post is tongue and cheek. I guess the sarcasm gets lost sometimes in print.

Im in 100% agreement with Gav on this one (even as a jest).

I'd be more inclined to post something about personal accomplishments that have made you laugh or those 1 in 1,000,000 moments that just left you completly awestruck/dumbstruck.

Or even simpler yet... what makes the game the most fun for you.
I have decided to produce and sell a strong alcoholic drink called "Responsibly".
That way everyone in the country can get wasted drinking Responsibly.
And all the other drinks makers will be advertising for me on their cans with the slogan "please drink Responsibly".
Probably will annoy the government as well.

On JiF playing is a team thing. Even guys like me that are used to going it alone more often than not have a chance to learn a better way through teamwork. Each map is a team win or a team loss! There are games where I sit at one flag that may be critical to map control and defend from the occasional sneaker flag theft. I don't always rack up the points but I could if that was my focus. Instead I'll set up shop and defend from a potential turning point in the game.. a flag loss behind the front lines. Is it glamorous? Do I get record kills? Nope, but it's fun and at the end of the game I know it kept my guys in charge of the map and contributed to the win!

We appreciate that you share our excitement for the game, and we appreciate that everyone contributes in a different way towards making JiF live up to its name 'Just in Fun.' :)

Hmm....Sorry if I offended you guys...was just trying to provide some light, humorous topics. The whole thing was supposed to be facetious and fun. I didn't mean to stir up issues about elitism or making others feel inferior.

You guys play with me. You know I'm not ass (for the most part, at least). You know, too, that I am a team player, and that I am not all about my personal stats. I agree completely with your post, Lonewolf. We have similar styles, but we are both all about the team.

At the same time, though, I did intend this thread to be a funny and entertaining way for people to do like Djsmg said...

Sorry you guys took it the wrong way. I probably should have left the second half off. Took the joke too far, which probably made it seem like I was entirely serious. But, yeah, I was hoping we could share great highlight moments and moves, whether we played we played the role of the super-soldier  , the witness  , or the poor victim  ...

Just good ol' war stories, you know...

You can edit your posts if you want 55Gallon but I am not personally offended, I can easily understand how words can be interpreted differently than intended. So in the spirit of 55's last post... v

That's what I found that I like to do as you might remember from Commachio on Monday :) I think I can count about 10 times you and that damn quiet JU88 bombed me out of existance.

Sometimes it can be boring just sitting there waiting for something to happen, but those times where things do happen I personally find it rewarding to either be able to hold off the attack and counter-attack and keep the flag or keep the flag greyed out and from turning until reinforcements arrive for an assist on defence. I like the fact that on our server usually a call for assistance is answered by a teamate.

Here's two stories that always make me laugh. At one point on Essen, I was prone, taking a flag. Suddenly, four people just spawned in front of me. Furious fighting ensued and I stood there, blinking. I had survived, killed the four, and the flag went neutral. So I laid back down, cheered, and then got knifed by the fifth guy who I didn't see xx

Of course, the map after that was Tobruk. At the end: 32 deaths, 0 kills, -2 points (for a suicide to even up teams)... That was a depressing map

I think my greatest ability is to ban myself in case I get out of line.....

The POWER of admin is a scary thing.

P.S. Ya know, it’s almost time for "AWinkyChristmas" to swing by again and visit our server. He brings good Jif'rs all kinds of fun and holiday cheer. He's like Santa (toys) and Victoria's Secret (use your own imagination...!) all rolled up in one. Get those lists ready and keep em handy, you’ll know he's coming when you see that server message.... “Hello all BF42 players, have you been good this year? If not, I KEEEEL U!" Keep an eye out for him, he may just surprise you when you least expect it.

I love this time of year.....
