Re: Beer thread
Anyone remember the TV show Cheers???
In one episode of 'Cheers', Cliff is seated at the bar describing the Buffalo Theory to his buddy, Norm. I don't think I've ever heard the concept explained any better than this . .
'Well you see, Norm, it's like this . . . A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members.
In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine.
And that, Norm, is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.'
So I figure in a few years or so I should be a genius

I have decided to produce and sell a strong alcoholic drink called "Responsibly".
That way everyone in the country can get wasted drinking Responsibly.
And all the other drinks makers will be advertising for me on their cans with the slogan "please drink Responsibly".
Probably will annoy the government as well.

Prohibition Picture...
If you were around in 1919 (just before prohibition started) and came across this picture...
Would you seriously consider quitting drinking??

Re: Beer thread
A recent study conducted by Harvard University found that the average American walks about 900 miles a year.
Another study by the American Medical Association found that Americans drink, on average, 22 gallons of alcohol year.
This means, on average, Americans get about 41 miles to the gallon.
Kind of makes me proud to be an American.

Re: Beer thread
If that's good for Americans, imagine what the Germans, Irish, or the Russians get. Now those people know how to drink o_O

If we make prisons a living hell for them, then we might just be sending out devils once they are released. Cruel methods to achieve discipline are a thing of the past! So, keep on dancing! Byron F. Garcia.

Re: Beer thread
That reminded me of the song in this old commercial...[JiF]Alfred Neumann wrote:beer beer beer, gonna drink some beer ....
which led me to these classics when I looked up the Molson Bubba:
Molson - Your Sister
Molson - Curved Hockey Stick

[JiF]Melon Farmer wrote:If you can get Bell's, try it! Anything Bell's brews is going to be good stuff IMAO. I prefer the darker brews, stout, porter and ales. Guinness, regular not draft. Sierra Nevada out west (Winky?) is of the same caliber as Bells, very good. Sierra Nevada has out a fine anniversary ale right now that is tasty and strong at about 5.5%. "MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMBEEEEEEEER...AGGGHHHHHgurgle." Homer Simpson
Sierra Nevada is one of my top picks for sure, pale ale. Great stuff. Also a big fan of Anchor Steam which is brewed in San Francisco and is a darker brew. One other local favorite is Gordon Bierch which was a micro-brew that has turned big in our area and has its beer in a lot of stores too. Londe ale and wheat are really smooth.
Used to be a big fan of those around the world parties of beer tasting and at one time my room mates and I had over 125 beers from around the world!
We decided to serve them up in a weekend party and drank every last one of them +. It is all a blur now so I cant tell you some of the names but I think we got most of the continents covered that night.
