ROFL... and here I thought it was just me...

I only use it when Mrs. DJ is out... it's hard to use teamspeak late at night when she is sleeping in the next room, the last thing I want to do is wake her up.

The attention thing also explains why you might see me just arrive in game then two minutes later disconnect and then be back about ten minutes later just to do the same thing all over again... she comes first, game comes second.

I have one of those fatal1ty headsets and it works really well.

I set the output ( what I hear to be about 50% on the slider scale) and the input of my mic needs the +20db boost tick box ticked (in advanced setting for my mic) and about 30 % on the slider bar.

I have my own office on the ground floor of our house so not too many problems.

I'm playing downstairs on the laptop when Mrs Lt Gav is tucked up in bed asleep. I don't start playing until I finish working which is always after she has gone to bed so no attention problems for me.

The only problem with my headset is a humming sound which I have tracked to the machine not being earthed. If I touch a metal part on the case whilst I speak it is not there (I think), but this makes playing & talking not such an easy prospect. I would love to get the level right so I could have it set to the activate when I speak setting. Then I don't have to let go of the mouse to speak.
Maybe I should get one of those earth straps on my wrist. Hmmm but that could get in the way. Maybe I will fiddle about some more with it.
BUT teamspeak can be a good laugh, like the other night when mini & I were doing tactics only to realise Djsmg was listening & on the other side. Oh & you will also get the mini taunt "you need a new tank" just before he zooks you up the rear end.

That same night Gav I was laughing so hard when I realized that you guys caught be at a bad moment trying to fly a plane. Mini was kind enough to let me know that he saw me apply way too much rudder on takeoff in the Battle for Guam. I ended up doing donuts down the runway prior to running straight into a palm tree and in the process blowing myself up.

Atleast someone was kind enough to take out all of the other planes to keep me grounded for awhile.

The battle of hurtgen forest Mini and Gav were coordinating to take me out only to clue me in to which direction I was gonna get taken out from lol.

The only thing is sometimes I can hear you clearly, other times I have to struggle to hear. Background battle noise drowns it out. I am not sure if that is the same for everyone. Staticline clued me in one night when I was trying to speak and all he got was static. Sometimes Battlefield apparantly corrupts TS and you have to reload it to come across in the clear. Could be a grounding issue too I guess, I'll have to try grounding myself.

In a year or so I will finish the basement so I'm stuck with an upstairs office for awhile.

I like to use it almost everytime I'm on, but for some reason I wasn't able to hear cannedcorn last time (he was the only other one on)? I hope it was just a temp thing, and not another Vista issue.

had some great fun with Hutchie, Mini, Dat, and Gav so far.
Go ahead and go for it, it really is a lot of fun to speak with the other guys and when on the same team, work together for victory!

Even the wife said she wanted to get onine just to hear mini-talk. She did a year in Germany with the Army and had a great time. Still has some friends there and misses those darn Germans!

The more people on the more fun - there are even extra channels to accomadate more people or one for allied, one for axis.

Experience the lows - "yes I know Winky that's the 3rd time in a row I got out of the jeep on that bridge and you killed me. I'm gong to drive past next time."

NB. Not actual TS - just things I wish I had said.

Mechanicaly minded Mini always knows when you need a new tank.

I used to use it, but find that it makes the game crash even more on Vista.
I think I am going to bite the bullet and set up a seperate XP box to play. Then I'll be back on TS
