Zouga's Tips and Tricks
Get ready for a series of monster posts.
I have been looking about, listening to peoples questions and I have decided to spread the knowledge I have picked up about BF42.
Over the next few weeks I will post some of the little tips and tricks I have picked up from playing, from other JiFFers, FAQs and online guides.
Todays Post is all about the venerable Bot and his knack of taking Vehicles
Getting the Bots out of Vehicles;
I’m sure that you all know the standard F6-F7 combo, which makes you say ‘Bail Out!’
But there are some other tricks to make sure you get the vehicle.
Wheels: Shouting bail out usually works on tanks (jeeps, bikes and APCs too) but this can be counter-productive, on a map like Cassino if you shout from distance, ALL of the bots will bail and then run away from their vehicles, meaning they get slaughtered and the armour stays put.
If you want a specific tank, try to get close to it then F6-F7, usually just those bots will bail. If there is only one tank around and you shout, the bots will bail, but then get back in if you are too far away. They will usually NOT bail a 2nd time.
Sometimes shooting at a tank will make a Bot bail; if you shout and they don’t get out, try shooting tank with your pistol
If you want a Vehicle with only one Bot in it, jump into the secondary position and hit 1 repeatedly till they bail and you switch.
This is good if you are in a jeep/bike and a Bot is in passenger seat, hit 2 and they bail, and a human can get in to come for the ride.
Planes: Do whatever you like but bots will almost NEVER bail from planes. I have seen it on Guadalcanal, but they usually wait till they have taken off and then jump out to their deaths, letting the plane crash as well.
Shouting Bail Out before they get into planes (and other vehicles) will often make them turn and run in the other direction, but they will turn back if you do not hurry to the plane.
If you can get to the gunner seat in a plane then you can try to switch by pressing 1, however make sure you are not diving when you do this as it takes a few seconds to regain control.
If you get a 2-seater, try hitting F7-F5 (Jump In!), Bots are super accurate with the rear guns on planes, more so than on land, this will give you added protection against Bison or WB sneaking up behind you to spoil your day.
Ships: Getting the Bot out of a ship is often like getting blood from a stone (or mercy from Rambo). On Iwo, Omaha and Husky the Arty can be devastating, but the bots have a propensity to sit stubbornly in the ships and do SFA. On Husky old Trevor Wobless can be quite accurate, but on Iwo and Omaha they are a dead loss.
On a Destroyer (DD) you cannot switch positions from the side mounted MGs (Pos. 3 & 4) but you can from the main guns. F6-F7 (Bail or Abandon Ship depending where you are) will not dislodge a Bot. Similarly, pressing 1 from position 2 will not get them out except on rare occasions when the map has just started and you enter ship within a few seconds of the Bot doing so.
On a Battleship (BB) you can switch between all 4 positions using the number keys, but like a DD you cannot get a Bot out of position 1 from the others.
All is not lost though, there is a way, but it requires teamwork. One person gets in to position 2; keep pressing 1 and F6-F7, then bail, the next person must get in immediately and press 1 repeatedly. I have done this and it does work, albeit not every time. You can try repeating this a few times, it may work then.
Fixed Guns: Bots will mostly bail from AA and MGs but not always from DefGuns, however, as with everything in this game it is kinda arbitrary, maybe they will, maybe they won’t. Depending on the situation, like if you are being PWND from the air, a tactical execution of a Bot can be justified for the greater good of the war effort.
I expect that most of this is not news to most of you, but some may find it helpful.
till next time

Re: Zouga's Tips and Tricks
A quick footnote on Zouga's post:
Bots will NOT bail from their vehicles if they have enemy sighted or are engaged in combat. At this point they only have selective hearing and will ignore your pleas.
Another trick is when you see a bot running for a vehicle that you want, shoot him in the leg without killing him - 9 times out of 10 he'll stop dead or dive to the ground and you can grab the vehicle. Good for achieving personal satisfaction in getting the better of a bot.
You can get bots to bail out of planes on carriers but with disastrous results: they first get the plane into the air before bailing, and the plane and the bot ends up at the bottom of the ocean. Handy when you're annoyed with the particular bot in question.
If you're in position #2 or 3 etc in a vehicle with a bot and you want the drivers seat, try pressing 1 rapidly until the bot swaps position with you. Like Zouga said, first make sure you're not about to fly into the ground or drive off a cliff. This will only serve to disappoint MiniRambo when you deprive him of a kill when he's worked so hard to magically appear behind you with his zooka sighted on you.

I have a simple trick regarding sniping, simply don't shoot from the same place twice. this simple tactic makes counter sniping very difficult (but not impossible).

Re: Zouga's Tips and Tricks
I think the bots have an unfair advantage to be able to board any kind of vehicules from half-way across the map.

Re: Zouga's Tips and Tricks
Nice one Zouga,
I knew some of it but this post has filled in the gaps.
What can I add.. well not much that hasn't been said already.
Increasing the odds when facing l33t players
There are some players that you can't seem to kill 1:1 face to face, they are just too good. If you are infantry you must keep moving. If you see an enemy that you know will beat you on a face to face encounter then go for cover. Try and watch their reaction - if they have not seen you, try and get behind them and pick your moment well (don't go off half cock or they will spin round and kill you with 2 bullets). If they have seen you (the best may not fire unless they know they can kill you but may alter their behaviour noticably) then move out of sight and then alter direction. Meanwhile the enemy will usually try and intercept you where he thinks you will end up based on your original direction. Now work your way back round the cover to come out behind him (be quick - if you don't appear out of the cover when he thought you should he will realise something is wrong).
Die a snipers death
You get a few snipers on our games. Sometimes you even get infantry snipers, medic snipers and engineer snipers (tend to be shorter range). Keep moving , go for cover and try and work out where they might be. Typical spots will be just behind some scrub, near a crate in shaddow, in a building but out of the light of a window, on the crest or ledge of a hill/mountain. Once you have seen them then you must continue to go about your business, whistle if you must. However you business is now to get behind them and put an end to your team mates misery. Do not proceed directly to the sniper, he will see you, pack up his kit and be gone. Work your way round to the back of the sniper, if in a vehicle park up a square away - they have good ears and probably headphones too. Once behind them give them the old cold steel. They don't like it up them!!! They definitely do not like it up them...
I usually say in game "Die a snipers death" when I do this.
P.s. I don't think I have managed to catch Zouga - yet....
Bottlenecks
There are a couple of bottlenecks on the map that have a considerable advantage for the opposing side. Do not attempt to force through these unless there is light resistance. A prime example is the bridge out side the non cap allied base at Kbley airfield. Look at the map, if you're not sure go on an explore, it beats getiing killed and your bots will be busy doing that back at the bottleneck. Chances are you will arrive at an unguarded flag, preferably the one nearish to the bottleneck. This will mean that the enemy is subjected to attack on 2 sides which can turn a game very quickly.
hUTCHIE's teleporting motorbike hack
No sorry you can't have that one - I've got to keep some advantage...

Lol CannedCorn - although one should not condome team kills, if you have a player name like a bot you are rather courting it when a vehicle is urgently required. I remember Evil Hoosier upsetiing someone in this category when he needed a plane.[JiF]cannedcorn007 wrote:I guess that means i'm safe from tk. Dale Gribble might not be

Ah yes I remember. A challenging kill, but most gratifying.[JiF]zougathefist wrote:You broke your duck last week on Husky. I haven't forgotten....
Actually I thought you had packed up your kit but as there was no where to go and nothing to go in it was only a matter of time.
You seem to have conjured up a MP40 recently and waxed me 3 times in a row. Not wishing to subject you to a hUTCHIE grudge I haven't forgotten that either
