Objective maps can be fun when on a well populated server and with a team that is all on TS. The objetives are clear and simple, destroy a given asset (with expacks, nades and hi-explosive shells) within a certain time. If you succeed, allies win, if you fail, axis win.

The objective maps are only in expack 2 SW and are Mimoyeques, where you have to destroy the 3 air vents on the V2 research base, the Kbely airfield map where you have to destroy the 2 HO229 in the hangar, the Hellendoorn map where you have to destroy the V2 rockets on their launch pad, the Telemark map where you have to destroy the generators in the research facility and the Essen map where you have to destroy the 3 heavy water reservoirs in the factory.

If I missed one you'll find out by yourself, but the aim is always the same, teamwork prevail in these maps.

Thanks Sir
I just wondered if these versions ever got played & if they were any fun!
I guess like you say objectives have to be a team based thing, but maybe they are a bit like CTF in so far as the chap on his own has less chance than the group working together.
Perhaps we could give one a try sometime when we have a well populated server??
What does anyone think?

Good idea LtGav. In the meantime, if you want to sample the type of play, there's a server that runs them in their rotation, it's called TEST QUIN (or QUINN) sercret weapons.

Before I started playing on [JiF], I used to play Test Quinn all the time. Decent server.

I've played on Test Quinn too before I found Jif, and also occasionally if there is nobody on our server
the obj. maps are ok but you need a good few ppl on otherwise 1 or 2 can defend the targets effectively
I would be willing to give them a try

Of course must remember to set the next map thing if we do change to 1 of these, same as for throwing in a CQ or CTF! :D

Aah, those newb admins !

Do notice I used newb and not noob. I let you find the difference between the 2, as it is a big difference.

I think I found it... courtesy of Wiki.

"Noob
The game defintion of noob is usually someone, often in online games who acts in offensive ways to other users or people that surround them and refuse to go away, or by any other methods for the sole purpose of annoying others. Noob is also referred to as a everyday offensive word used by people to offend others or to refer to people who act offensively.

Newb
Noob is also considered a relatively new person to a game that is inexperienced and doesn't know what they are doing. This term is often addressed as newb(Newbie) however."

The question I have is which term suits me more when I hop into a plane?
I have decided to produce and sell a strong alcoholic drink called "Responsibly".
That way everyone in the country can get wasted drinking Responsibly.
And all the other drinks makers will be advertising for me on their cans with the slogan "please drink Responsibly".
Probably will annoy the government as well.

I'm a newbie, but when I step into a plane I become a noob lol.
Furthermore, and only slightly off topic, as far as objective maps go, I've played Berlin in Capture The Flag mode once or twice on JiF, but I saw that the BFO Coral Sea server is doing the same. The flags are located on the carriers and it's hilarious to see all the pilots bailing out over the enemy carriers instead of bombing the living daylights out of it xx

It seems like it would be fun to slip one of those maps in once in a while. A CTF or Objective map that we don't normally play, on a one-time only basis just to stir the pot a little. Variety is the spice of life! yy
