My GTA4 - Television Saga...

Post by Lonewolf-McQuade »

I pick up my copy of Grand Theft Auto IV tonight after work. I love playing BF1942 but won't have time to obsess about both games. I will be AWOL for a bit with GTA4, but I'll still stop in to play a round here and there. I don't think I can go without WWII weapons for too long. But I'll be back more as I burn out on GTA! :)

Plans Change.

Well it seems that all three tubes on my 60" HD Philips TV are bad and everything on my TV is green. GREEN! Circuit City is going to give me a brand new TV to replace the old one because it's about $1200 parts & labor. Lovely. Looks like my GTA4 box will collect dust for the next week while everyone at work tells me how cool it is. GRR!!! In the meanwhile, I'll be venting my frustrations with a medpak on the server. See you there :)

Ok so the repair man told me that the green glow on my TV is algae growing in the picture tubes which have a leak. My first reaction to this was WTF!?! In any event, because I paid for the 3yr warranty Circuit City is giving me a brand new 60" HD DLP TV. :D WHEW!! In the meanwhile I decided to open up the old TV and tinker... I actually got the picture back fairly crisp and almost color true by adjusting the focus (frequencey) on RGB and the level per lamp. It was a pain in the... but it will hold out for a week or two until the new TV ships. The TV repair guy said the picture couldn't be fixed at all, but it looks like he was mistaken. Sometimes tinkering pays off!

Ummm.... You probably shouldn't have done that. Opening the TV might void the warranty. I'd make sure you make sure that no one can tell you've done anything to it.

Meanwhile you can ship your GTA4 and console to my home address and I'll play it for 2 weeks and then send it back. :D

lol not happening! Yeah I'm an IT guy so I know about the warranty stuff.. I was in and out like a ghost! Plus at that point Circuit City had already agreed to send me a new TV (even verified my address). The technician had given it death papers!

Sounds like you have decent technicians over there... the ones over here absolutely refuse to replace something under warranty until every piece has been replaced on the inside along with 10 to 20 service visits. Must want to justify their job or something...

Maybe its just my luck.
I have decided to produce and sell a strong alcoholic drink called "Responsibly".
That way everyone in the country can get wasted drinking Responsibly.
And all the other drinks makers will be advertising for me on their cans with the slogan "please drink Responsibly".
Probably will annoy the government as well.

When our TV broke last year (no power) they came & took it away to repair it!
So what was I supposed to watch in the meantime. Hmmm
Oh then they were having a job getting the parts for a year old TV!!!
Oooops they seem to have lost it & couldn't track it down.
Over a month without my big TV just the small 14" from the bedroom to watch.
The threat of my lawyer soon got me a replacement + a new stand.
