Re: Custom Map Sunday - Moved to Thursday
on the whole infantry topic
i D/L'd a mod for RtR which removed the armour and air from all RtR maps making them real infantry slugfests, The mod makes the bots more aggressive and accurate (similar to the Ballistik Mod) it also modded the skins and look of the terrain, the only veh's were APCs and jeeps.
I'll seek out the link and post it. the mod also removed the sniper so there was no calling for arty
Its a good mod for target practice and learning how to do the 'Winky Dance'

Custom Map Thursday
Some people have noticed that the numbers on CMTs are a low. Last night I believe we had about 6-8 people max. I really haven't seen more than 6-12 even when it was on Sundays. So it really wasn't too bad! I think if we work to tighten up map selection, and most importantly to simplify map installation (for the less tech savy/or just plain lazy) that we can build it. But it will not happen instantly! I have had a great time playing the maps with the people that showed up! I hope we can hook more folks into it because it could be really fun!

Re: Custom Map Thursday
I was finally able to make it out for a bit last night, I thought the maps were all pretty good. I like the dambuster one, and the North Africa map which looked kinda green for that neck of the woods. It will definately be more fun with more players as some of those maps are huge.
I have decided to produce and sell a strong alcoholic drink called "Responsibly".
That way everyone in the country can get wasted drinking Responsibly.
And all the other drinks makers will be advertising for me on their cans with the slogan "please drink Responsibly".
Probably will annoy the government as well.

Re: Custom Map Thursday
I was on last night at 9:30pm CST(21:30)
I was alone for about 30 minutes and started playing coop maps so i could shoot something.
Melon-Farmer came on and we both played for bit against bots.
Frakazog showed up too.
BTW Husky map was in the rotation too.

Two problems with that are:
1. Server is not very powerful.
2. Server exists for free because it is not interfering with bandwidth used for legit business where I work. As long as it does not bother anybody at work I can sneak it in. That's why it is sometimes called "the server that does not exist".
Actually, G, Sly & I did...
We were crying about it!!!

When the server switches over to custom the "set idle map" sticks and would have to be turned off manually.
Husky is set as the idle map and comes up when the server goes empty of real players, but it is not in the rotation for custom map day.

Re: Custom Map Thursday
There was a map that come up last night and darned if I can remember the name of it, but it not only booted me when it came up, it shut bf42 down on my computer. When I looked on my remote manager, I couldn't even see it listed, so I just changed maps and everything was cool. Any ideas what this was?

Re: Custom Map Thursday
Nope. It maybe in the log. Next time check the status screen. It should show the current map.
You also may have it in the wrong folder on you PC.

Re: Custom Map Thursday
Operation Forager was probably the map. I think Corn changed it to that for COOP.[JiF]Melon Farmer wrote:There was a map that come up last night and darned if I can remember the name of it, but it not only booted me when it came up, it shut bf42 down on my computer. Operation Forager will not run in COOP mode. Even though it has COOP don't even bother only run it in conquest or it will crash.
I remember that from way back now

Re: Custom Map Thursday
Grimp is right, it was Forager. We'll know now not to set it for co-op.
Re: Custom Map Thursday
I think Great Pursuit map has same problem in coop mode.

I would have to agree with you except for the playing well part, on a few maps I think I ran into every trap laid out and was cannon fodder for anyone with a gun. Even still it was still a blast[JiF]Lonewolf-McQuade wrote:It was really fun! Everyone played well and the server ran perfectly! Awesome

Re: Custom Map Thursday
Yes, it was good at night (EST), but bad during the day.
At one point I had to change to a "regular" co-op map because we only had 3 players and we were all tired of chasing flags with no action.
That d-day map is cool (co-op). Why cant I see it/choose it on the maps screen in BFRM?
Suggestion: Start the custom maps at 2PM EST
