As I recall, Gav you and your partner got "Stinkified" at one of those flags.

Man, it was like whack-a-mole. That map would be awesome with full teams.

I downloaded this map and explored it.
It has great potential and everything is camo white like the snow.

That's a map i pushed for for the Creamy/Crunchy scrim. One of our fav for scrims. It's cool to skydive from the top of the dam to the factory below to cap the flag.

Or play human goat when allied to get to the axis main by the back ways !

Couple suggestions.

Seems to me the custom map day could be changed to from 3PM to 3AM Eastern US rather than all day.
There seems to be only a few players on during most of the day (probably getting bored) and then it gets populated in the evening US Eastern time.
Also because the server is now running without "content check" to allow custom maps to work they can be put on at any time by an admin.

My other suggestion would be to cancel custom map day and put some of the favorite custom maps in the rotation. Maybe every 3rd map or so.

Just basing this on my casual observations of the server on the last two Thursdays.
Might want to wait longer though. It may get populated on Thursdays over more time.
Can you tell I am a little frustrated that I don't usually get to play on Thursday and miss the maps :)

Ideas sound reasonable; I too miss the full day experience that was Sunday. I did think a weekend day seemed more appropriate -- but I'm the newbie. Only got to play a relatively short stint and saw only one map I had not seen before (Guam).

Had a real good time --- some real stalwarts were on Corn,Brick,Melon,Sly,Toriq,Gav so the play was excellent although some of those maps require more bodies.

Seems to me the custom map day could be changed to from 3PM to 3AM Eastern US rather than all day.
I was changing maps when I came on in the morning & at lunchtime (3.30am & 8.00am Eastern) as there were so few people playing that it was not working with the mod maps.
I monitored how many people were on & at 11am Eastern there was a mixture of mostly European (Alfred, Mini, SaS, Frenchafroman) with maybe a couple of US maximum. There was a lot of chat going on (in German) which I took as a sign that it wasn't really challenging with so few players. With larger maps it can be difficult to actually encounter an enemy & have a battle, which I think is really the point of this game.
The only problem with throwing the mods in the general rotation is that we could lose someone who casually drops in on the server, may like the experience but then gets dropped as they do not have the maps. A future Jiffer lost?

i mean the custom map day is awsome i love the maps but stop adding new one lets keep it to the new maps we have and with the time more people will have the custom maps.

yeah i played yesterday but i left after a while cause nobody was online like on other week days eastertime, so i keept goofing around with mini rambo driving around and chating.

on normal days allot of new guys are stoping by and playing so give them the chance to get the new maps once and let them play. even i hate it when i want to play and there is a new map that i havent download cause it came in 12 hours before and if i only have 45 to play the downloading and installing will take me 10 mins of playing

I think custom maps in the general rotation will just frustrate people who don't want to load maps but just want to do some hit-n-run playing. It'll be booting them periodically. BTW, I loaded the newest map pack exe last night and now my install isn't working. Probably just a coincidence.. but i'll have to get reloaded to be able to play.. and it's not running the setup.exe for bf either.. grrr! I would have been playing if not for that problem! See you soon!

Before you go reinstalling remove the custom maps from the folders. It has be found a map in the wrong mod folder will not let BF run.

Yesterday was very low turnout.
I am Central Time and started at about 7pm and quit at 11pm.
There are a lot of large maps that will probably only work on a weekend day.
I found myself on dambuster map, alone and skydiving off the dam.

My thoughts. I agree with most that many of the custom maps need quite a few more bodies. (on that topic, can the max player limit on server be adjusted up to maybe 32?) They're fun to play once you are familiar with them, though. The only difference between thurs/sunday for the map day is lots of folks work during week so won't be able to play until evening whereas that's generally not the case on weekends. However, I also agree that making sunday the map day could negatively affect the folks who don't want to d/l the maps and we could lose players as a result. That wouldn't be good at all. I don't know the solution to that problem. Guess there isn't really one since BF doesn't have a map d/l function like TF2 which makes it easy to get custom maps.

Last night was fun. I was just too tired to go long so ended up logging off around 10:45 and getting some Zzzzz's.

Occasionally I bump up the max players on weekends. Nobody seems to even notice :)

Two problems with that are:
1. Server is not very powerful.
2. Server exists for free because it is not interfering with bandwidth used for legit business where I work. As long as it does not bother anybody at work I can sneak it in. That's why it is sometimes called "the server that does not exist".

Seems I found out why nobody noticed when I bump up the server players.
I think it needs to be restarted. Last night I bumped it up and when a map came up it seemed to have worked.
Lots more bots, but after people started joining the numbers went down. When I left the server I noticed the in game browser still said 24.
Over night the server crashed and it now says 32. A crash would be like a start stop I guess, so I guess I need to do that when I bump up the players number. Only problem with that is every one needs to get booted.

I see it is at 32 now (Sunday afternoon). Lots and lots of punks today though. A couple were arguing over their 6th grade understanding of Geopolitics.
One was rambling about how lame this server was (told him he must have someone forcing him to play here) he said needed to be 64 players, that is far too many in MHO. One was whinning about all the lame maps, and the final straw for me where these two who kept arguing over who was TKing who.

I do miss the good well mannered crowd (however small) that participated on Mod-Map Sunday.
