BMW infra red night vision

This would be great for deer.

"BMW has released a video of BMW 7 Series Night Vision System with FIR (infrared) camera in front air dam. Video includes night driving scene with a jogger and a skater on the road. Infrared image is displayed on the on-board monitor."

My buddy was on the R&D team at dodge trying to perfect this with a HUD projection on the winshield. They ran into alot of problems with driver's eyes focusing and if someone had high beams on in the opposing lane, the IR or night vison would reset and take a few seconds to reaquire. He was also working an autopilot project for a car where they put sensors in the pavement and used radar and RF to keep the car on the road and react with a type of AI to conditions... he said it wasn't working so good.

I rented a Corvette with a HUD a few years ago - pretty cool.. Having an IR overlay would be very, very cool..

The new BMW 650I has the color HUD and it retails for $73,795 to $85,890. The 650I also comes with active cruise control, night vision, HD radio, satellite radio, iPod connector and has optional active steering.

I just got a new Ford Explorer at the end of January and it gets better fuel miliage then the 650I which only gets 25 mpg city and 31 highway.

are u serious? light travels in waves; different frequencies and bandwidths determine the strength and color spectrum. infra red bounces a light source which is too low for humans to see off objects in the dark then is picked up by a sensor tuned to the infra red to display on a screen or through a scope... for more info they have these things called books and schools.
