Re: Custom Map Sunday
I removed the discussion parts when I moved the topic. I will have to look at the file. I did not think it was setup to put it in the proper directory anyway, but I will look. The new topic should not allow posts. Just info about the maps.
Not that we have an issue keeping on topic around here I think I am the only one besides a forum admin that can post in there. You can try it and find out if you like.

Re: Custom Map Sunday
I just used WinZip to open the .rar file and then manually moved the karden map file to the proper directory. Didn't even think about auto-extracting it as I think I read in the readme that you have to put it in the proper place yourself.[JiF]Sly Gambit wrote:The extracted RAR doesn't go to the correct directory. It looks like the extract moves the map resource file up a few directory levels. People have to manually put it down in the lower directory.
Karden definitely needs a LOT of bodies since the bots there are just bad.
Once in a while you can get shown the light in the strangest of places if you look at it right.

I think that was what I did. Just opened the rar and dragged the file to the correct folder.

Yeah but if you extraxt the file to the directory it doesn't work. You have to extract and then move the file. Just worth noting that that screwed up almost everyone (myself included!) who actually tried to follow your directions.[JiF][AARP]Grimp wrote:I think that was what I did. Karden looks like it would be awesome (RIP C. Farley) with a full slate of human players. So many places to ambush...

Re: Custom Map Sunday
Everytime I played yesterday the Germans eventually got bottled up in their base and it became a base-camping extravaganza. Jiffers gotta remember to not nade the spawn points when that happens but you don't have any choice but to camp their entrance. So basically it started getting kinda lame. And I tried to switch in coop when I realized it was 5v2 allies but the game didn't let me. Grimp must have had autobalance on.[JiF]Uncle Stinky wrote:Karden looks like it would be awesome (RIP C. I think we played it once about 7v7 or so in the one conquest round and it was a little better but the Germans still ended up getting bottled up. If you happen to consider yourself to be an above-average infantry guy you probably wanna start German on that one to keep things evened up.

Re: Custom Map Sunday
The opposite happened in the game I played -- the Axis had the Americans bottled up near the railway cars.

The instructions say: Extract karden.rar or karden.zip and copy map file to your bf1942 levels directory.
NOT the RTR XPACK1 levels like the others. DRIVE Letter:\Program Files\EA GAMES\Battlefield 1942\Mods\bf1942\Archives\bf1942\levels

Stop giving away my evil plot to tick off the BF players. Which will empty the server and I can switch it to TF2

Re: Custom Map Sunday
jo grimp did u look at the omaha beach green sector map. it is so big u would need at least 30 players on each team to have some fune. it took me like over 5 minutes to walk through it. it would maybe be fun if allies had some vehicles to move forward
