Disconnect or lag?

Post by [JiF]corn »

I have had a lot of lag issues lately (several weeks) and a few disconnects. :?

The last 4 or 5 days i've been playing Day of Defeat, F.E.A.R., Bf Vietnam and BF2 all Multiplayer.
I don't have the connection issues or lag that seems to be so bad on the JiF server.
For a while i figured my PC is just getting old. :(

Could it really be server side issues?
Anyone else experience an increase in lag or disconnects?

:( :(

Maybe Grimp left a doughnut in the server last time he worked on it.

I just don't know. Maybe the PB stuff? I did change it to automatically take screenshots of players. I suppose that could cause lag, but I don't think it would cause disconnects. Could be under attack, I don't actually watch it close enough to notice if it is. Then again maybe it just needs a reboot. If I get some time I will look at it.

Maybe TS is getting popular, both run on the same server. Might be time to move it off.

Between 19:00 and 21:00 last night our Internet connection was maxed out.

I was downloading an ISO image but that shouldn't have burried the connection, I was being good and not using the get me more than one connection at a time thing :)

I'm not sure, maybe certain maps only.
I'll check on my end when i'm on and keep track when it happens.
I'm also going to check background processes on my PC, normally all are turned off during gameplay.
Maybe reinstall game and/or PB.

Does it happen on any server you play on ? If so, have you checked to see if your patch cable to your modem is not kinked or having a heavy objet on it, thus reducing data flow ?

Mouhahahahahahahaha

Joking aside, are you running Vista or XP ? I'm having the same ussues from time to time with Vista.

I'm using XP Pro.
It doesn't seem to have any issues with playing games on other servers.
:?

Cable is only about 3 ft (1 meter) from my router.
The cable that hooks up the DSL to the router is about 30 ft (10 metres)

I played last night w/o lag and my pings seemed normal. Only me and Gav were on TS from around 8-10 so I don't think it's TS and I when I logged into the admin console a handful of times I didn't see any other clients online.

BoB Coop did bomb 3 times in a row though. I've never seen that happen. Probably around 9:00. After the third time I logged off and put on a different coop map.

Probably just in need of a reboot.

I just ran the latest MS updates and rebooted the server. Dunno if rebooting will help it or not.
