Most of the new maps were a lot of fun, but as many stated already, need more bodies to make them "work" better. Maybe bots if real live humans can't be persuaded. A mappack day a couple times a month would be fantastic too!

Maybe you could disable airplanes too! (j/k)

Unfortunately those maps do not support bots.

I think I liked everyone of them. Nobody can ever agree on that though.
I loved the single outpost one, and the one going up the hill.

On the single outpost one I could picture Sergeant Major Sly stacking dead bodies around the top of the fort and firing over them. Then making Tissueman climb the lookout tower :D
Beau Geste style, but I sometimes have and over active imagination

I just want to know the material used to make those tents. They were able to protect people inside from direct tank shell hits.

It's a derivative of those split rail fences that tanks can't pass through. Besides, we infantry types need all the protection we can get.

I had a fantastic time Sunday great thanks jiffers. All the maps were unique and had their own appeal. I loved the French alamo one where the Italians had to take their fort. And Ihantala with those great trenches. The Canada v Germany one in the city is wonderful and to me screams 'CTF.' I loved the spread out Italian country side one and had great fun defending "my farm house" until winky came along and claimed it as his own.

There was one where there was a narrow road and Germany had to climb an ungodly steep hill that seemed a little too tough for the Axis side. That having said though we did play one round on that one where I said "this is too tough for Axis;" well led by Waterboy and Torque the Axis rolled up the hill quickly and I had my words shoved back at me. So even this map has its appeal.

Like others I would suggest you stick with it and simply keep announcing the event. Regulars should 'talk it up' to those who didn't come. Tell everyone how fun it was and as the tradition grows more and more people will attend.

Great fun was had by all ....I even wacked Waterboy a few times (well very few).

Once it says it can't find the page patience is useless. I could stare at that error for days and nothing would happen :D

I kept trying and the site was eventually found though.
Map looks pretty. I will put in on the server for possible use sometime.

Who is Torque?

There was that one time on that spread out map with all the water and narrow roadways when you were guarding that far west outpost, the one all alone out there, and I came flying down the road in a jeep straight at the concrete bunker. I jumped out of the jeep as it was going full speed and went inside the concrete bunker...I turn around and the darn jeep is INSIDE the bunker with me! That was kind of odd, no? No idea how it fit in through the door with hardly a scratch. While I was scratching my head over the whole affair, you just had to kill me too.

I would like to start with a thank you to Grimp for setting that up last night.
I hadn't played the maps before or had a chance to look round them, so I just jumped straight in.
It was a bit slow to start with when there were only about 5 or 6 of us playing, but as more peeps came in it got better.
I was getting a bit tired of playing the same old stuff over & over again so this really perked up my enjoyment! I didn't want to leave but as it was 2.15am & my alarm goes off at 6.45am I thought I had better go & take a shave & get to bed.
I figure some people couldn't get on as you had to be in the game to be told where to get the maps. Hmmm the name change thingy bit sounds like a good idea to me.

A big raised glass of frothy ale & a hearty cheers to you all.

Thanks, I really enjoyed the change myself even though I have not been playing bf1942 like back in the day :) Really ended up putting in some playing time yesterday. Even old Tissueman came out to play.
He got the JiF tag working on the server so, I am not gonna listen to any more cracks about how hard it is :D
If he can do it the generation who never saw a black and white TV or a phone with a dial should be able to do it blind folded with one had tied behind their backs.

The custom bf map karden.rar is now on the same ftp for download. Just extract the file and put it in the maps folder of the original bf mod.
Sooner or later we will probably try it out :)

Grimp, actually I meant "paience" regarding 'not a lot of people were on the server playing the new maps'.

As you said...many people TRIED to get on, but kept getting booted cause the didnt pay attention & download & install the new ones... :)

Many people asked me about it yesterday (Monday) and immediately went to the sit and started downloading...

Sorry if I confoosed/misled ya with my quote!! ;)
