Re: Custom Map Sunday
Don't mean to be dense here, but now I'm a bit confused.
Thanks.
I assume you mean to run the bf1942_UN_Battle_of_Ihantala_v1.2.exe file after installing the RtR file/patch and not to unzip and use the 1.3 server only file. Right? Just want to make sure since I don't really feel like reinstalling all the bf1942 collection disks again unless I have no choice!03/08/2008 04:20PM 11,175,970 battle_of_ihantala_v1.3.zip <----------------------------------Don't get - Server only.

Re: Custom Map Sunday
I enjoyed playing some new maps. What do you think? Was it worth it?
We never got more than 14 players (that's the most I saw).
I did notice lot's of players trying to connect and failing yesterday.
Wonder what it will do our player base.

Re: Custom Map Sunday
I liked Ihantala, and Giggio Pass (sp?), the one with only 2 cappable flags. But the lack of players was a problem, especially early in the day. Nothing will expose weak play like a 2 on 2 game!
Wasn't crazy about Monte Battaglia. Too narrow a playing field, and the Axis have tough row to hoe.
Mayebb we do this every other week?

Re: Custom Map Sunday
I enjoyed the new maps too...though I didn't get to play half as much as I'd have liked to...
We should do it again, perhaps step up the hype in the meantime so people figure out that they'll
need to get the maps to play on those days....maybe we'll get a better turnout.

Great Maps!
As time goes on, i think we will get more people to load up maps and play.

Re: Custom Map Sunday
It was fun. Nice to play some new maps, though a couple of them begged for more players to make it fun. I felt like a lost soul in the desert on one of them. I think if we post a message in game for people about Sundays they'll figure it out. I don't know often is right, but a couple of times a month sounds good. I think if we do it every Sunday it might lose it's appeal.

Re: Custom Map Sunday
Maybe change the server notices to just mention the new maps for now. Also changing the name of the server from Pot luck to "Go to jiff.net and get the custom maps" might help.
You've got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, punk?

Re: Custom Map Sunday
Yeah once a month or so would be fine but we have to say which maps we liked and which we didn't. Get rid of the bad ones. Like that desert map with one cap for the allies and two uncappables for the Italians. That was no fun.[JiF][AARP]Tissueman wrote:It was fun. Next time we should make sure the server name is changed so people know to come here for the map pack.

It's almost too obvious!
Too bad no one thought of this prior to this past weekend...
Re: Custom Map Sunday
Actually liked the one where you defend that one flag or lose.
Could be great fun with a full house.
I do think it would be better to have 1 uncap on each side and the one that holds the middle longest wins.

I even bolded it.
