Can anyone tell me why???

Post by [JiF]rIot »

Alright, so I was thinking about doing SLi to sorta be a step up on these graphic demanding games, so I figured alright, my videocard is pretty outdated compared to the new stuf out now, so it will be a bit cheaper. Not the case! I go onto pricegrabber and my videocard is listed for $699...WTF!? Its been some time since it has been out and its still close to what it initialy sold for. I have a 7800 GTX KO and I look at pricegrabber who has a 7950 GT KO (much more advanced?) for only $289. Can someone give me a reasonable explaination for this price gap!?

They probably aren't making your video card anymore, thus supply is low and price goes up.

I've done a bit of reading on the card, it seems to be the cream of the crop. Hand picked and overclocked, with a lifetime warranty from EVGA for everything but hitting it with a hammer. Did see some used on eBay for well under $300.

Tomshardware.com has a pretty good list of graphics cards and a chart to compare them. http://www.tomshardware.com/graphics/ They don't even list your card, but you can find one that's pretty close in settings.

Plus with DirectX 10 coming out soon, maybe best to wait and get a compaitable card.

I was seriously considering e-bay, but with the way electronics are im a bit concerned for whether it will work or not when I get it. There are a lot of people on e-bay that you cant trust.
