Problems with BF.exe & QTracker (maybe)

Post by [JiF]LtWaterboy »

Guys,

Any thoughts would be appreciated with this:

Just installed BF42 on my new system. Since day 1 with the install, I am crashing to the desktop getting a dialog box popping up saying that the .exe file for BF was having a problem.

getting this every time I try to access the game with Qtracker (which I have now just begun using - used to use ASE).

I dont have this problem if I use the in-game internet server selection.

once I am into the game for the first time, I have no problems ever reaccessing the game thru QTracker.

Tanxs.

hmmm...

w/o restarting my computer after one of these attempts, I tried the in-game internet approach to get to the JiF
server.

this time it loaded up & crashed to the desktop as well... DOH!!!

only files I got are the two patches 1.6.19 & the 1.61.b

You're not alone there! My system at work kept doing that to me before Christmas. Ran fine in single player, but going in to multiplay every now & then, crash back to the desktop.
Touch wood it seems to be running fine since the New Year.
Do not know the answer, but I do not run QTracker, so that may not be the problem.

Yeah, that was my concern with the second posting (didnt use QT and it still did it).

See my other post - think it is my new super computer is too power to run such an outdated game on it... ;)

guess I need to start multiplay on Crysis and COD4!!

Are you still having the problem? Saw you on for a bit today but was leaving the house when I noticed.

Here's a few tips I found:

I'd try all of those thing but it sounds like it's most likely a driver compatibility problem - either sound of graphic.
