I've been considering buying this - mostly because I'm bored and haven't played an RPG in a while. However I didn't realize that they're trying something BF42ish. They're actually doing a 'campaign' mode where it's similar to BF conquest where two teams of players battle it out.
The difference here is that you're in a medieval scifi world instead of a modern(ish) battlefield and maybe more significantly you are fighting a 'campaign' that involves multiple battles before someone wins. At the start of the campaign everyone is equal and as you win individual battles you move closer to the end campaign goal (the other teams fortress?) and your character gets better. When the campaign ends it resets everyone's characters back to the 1st level.
I think I'd have to find out how long a battle/campaign takes, how they balanced the classes (and the teams), and also what happens when people drop out or join in the middle of a battle. However if it can solve my RPG jones and my Multiplayer FPS jones with one purchase I'm all for it. Gotta play something until a good FPS comes out and that's not gonna happen this week.
