I'm starting to get my feet wet in preparation for buying a house. I've been working with my PC to get it set to be used as an HPTC and also have an IR universal remote (Harmony 880) that I've done a lot with in terms of automating my PC controls and my entertainment system. Since I own a condo there isn't much of a point to automating the place but when I start seriously shopping for a house this Spring I'm trying to figure out what is good to look for in terms of a house that would be relatively easy to retrofit.
This is where I'm doing most of my research:

But if anyone's had experience with this in their house and have some hints feel free to fire 'em out. Right now I've figured out that I will want to eventually upgrade to RF remotes, centralize my servers/controlling devices, and learn how to work with existing wiring to be able to do the entire house. Sounds like I should be looking for newer homes (duh) or homes with a single owner which usually means less chance of people having messed with the wiring.
Anyone do any home automation work?
