Anyone playing CoD 4?

Post by [JiF]Sly Gambit »

Close to buying it for myself as a xmas present. Not sure if anyone else has played it or is currently playing it but while BF1942 can be fun and TF2 is always a hectic experience I'm thinking about trying out a more conventional than TF2 and more modern than BF shooter. This one seems to get the best reviews and the gameplay seems to be the best I've read about.

I play cod 4 for xbox 360 on a daily basis. It's by far my favorite game out there for the 360. I heard rumors that it runs multi-platform, by that I mean PC gamers can play with console gamers online (although I'm not sure of the truth in this). You will not regret getting it, I promise you that.
I'm working on solving the gas crisis.

The multi-platform thing is that new "Games for Windows" u see on boxes now. I'm not sure they all support it but I think that's what it means. The big problem is that you must be using Vista. I have read you can hack them to run on xp, but I don't know what it involved.

I would love to play CoD4, but I think I've used up my gaming budget for a while. I don't have time to play all the games I want to now anyway...why add another one! :)

I bought COD4 for the Single player and I have not regretted it. That was the game I was playing before my computer decided to be a pain on me. I luckily beat it and was just replaying an old level before it decided to do that.

I highly recommend it. I heard the multiplayer is addicting also. I haven't had a chance to play multiplayer on the PC though (due to the reasons above). However, I played it multiplayer on the PS3 with my brother and two cousins while at my cousins house for Thanksgiving .. and for someone who hates playing FPS's on consoles, I actually liked it a lot.

OMG!
I don't need another addiction.

I've seen some videos of it and looks like a lot of thinking skills needed.
My son has played it and he says it is quote " freakin awesome" .

Well I got it last night via Steam. Had to wait until this morning to play. Very intense. I started out on the second-to-last difficulty setting for the single player campaign. No problems with the first two missions as a Brit SAS but the US Marine mission where I had to clear the TV station was incredibly hard.

Lots and lots of fun though. Hope it doesn't completely ruin my week. ;)

Dude... don't know how ANYONE can win at these games unless one of three ways:

1. They have NO life whatsoever.
2. They are extreme whiz-kid gamers.
3. Install the cheat codes... ;)

I had to do the latter one for both Crysis (which is still fricken amazing!) and Bioshock (which wasnt too bad).
I've already got the COD4 codes in place but havent started yet (thats next week!).

ps. Steelers clinch!!!!! :)

Heh. I won it at the second hardest level Saturday afternoon. It didn't take that long but the game is pretty freakin' difficult. And no I didn't use any cheats or even look up keys to levels on the Internet. Hardest levels were the sniper level (I think I killed 100 guys in the final rush) and the level where you capture the main terrorist (not the Russian dude). I had to replay both a lot.

Once I learned the key to the game is to push forward so the endless respawning stops it became possible to win. Also learning to notice when the grenade indicator flashes helped. :)

Very cool. I'm going to try it at the hardest level and once I either beat that or give up at it I'll move onto multi-player. I still need to tweek the keyboard setup. Even at the end I was having trouble working with the crouch/run/prone keys.

Yeah, noticed my "god" mode wasnt working too well a few times, and the "push forward for continuous spawns" became very evident.... ;)

ps. sis got me Gears of War for Xmas.... oh no... another one that I'll have to "cheat to win" on!!! :)
