Re: Crysis
What kind of system are you running it on? I've heard it is stunning but not sure my GeForce 7900 GS will do it justice.

Re: Crysis
Go here and check out your system. Mine meets the min reqs for Crysis except for the video card. My card is just barely under the min req. I can run it, but it isn't great. I plan to upgrade the vid card to the 8800 GT (512 MB version) when I can find one available. They are a hot card and hard to find.[JiF]Uncle Stinky wrote:What kind of system are you running it on? Re: Crysis
As Tissue said,
the graphics are the critical issue.
Using my new rig to play it, so it is kinda unfair (dual Geforce 8800 Ultras with the Ageia graphix accelerator) to use as a baseline...
the box says the minimum graphics cards needed are:
the GeForce 6800 GT (256MB) or greater
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro (ATI X800 Pro 256MB for Vista).
Here's the catch - To make it spectacular, use Direct X10, with the catch being this is currently exclusive to only Windows Vista (ugh!!!!!!).
Rumors floating around that MS might yield to the pressure an actually make that graphics engine for XP in the very near future (since a bunch of gamers are switching back to XP).
Direct X9.0c works great but I hear 10 is fan fricken tastic!!!!
So far, only my new bluetooth cordless mouse has been what has been holding me up from really enjoying it (I get that darn "floating cursor" syndrome again which makes you lose control of moving/aiming/etc).
My neighbor upstairs thinks it is the WiFi broadcasting at the same frequency as bluetooth causing interference.
Problem has occurred on both of mine that I have had. I may resort back to the USB cordless instead (non-BT).

Re: Crysis
I have played Crysis on both XP and Vista and I must say DX10 just blows DX9 out of the galaxy. I knew there would be some difference between the two but I never imagined it would be that much. Crysis is a hog and needs a good PC to run it but I have talked to a couple of other people that has played Crysis on a 7800 but had to run with the settings on low so I would say that you should be able to play it Uncle Stinky on low as long as the rest of your system can handle it.
I haven't kept up on Far Cry 2 but I was told it was going to be just as demanding as Crysis since it will be on the same engine.

Re: Crysis
This is on my Christmas list now...
Does a graphics accelerator do a lot? Are they expensive?
Might have to pick up a second video card on the next few months as well

Re: Crysis
...and in a few years this game will look like Half-life 1 (which is at the point where I would have a computer good enough to run it)
Re: Crysis
Games are starting to get at the point where you can enjoy them even though their old. Like BF1942, old old game, but the graphics are decent enough to keep me playing.

Agree with Riot, I just won't push it as far back as Pac-Man
