spawn killing
While I enjoy this server because of the map rotation, the low ping and that most of the players are good people, there is one thing to me I would like to have explained.
Why do you allow jerks in tanks to kill whilly nilly on untakeable bases?
It suggests cowardice or an enjoyment of shooting fish in a barrel.
Ethics aside I think you folks run a wonderful server.

Re: spawn killing
I don't see it as such a big issue -- if there's a tank in your base then you need to spawn A-T and take it out. Or better yet, prevent it from happening in the first place.

Re: spawn killing
We like to keep our rules pretty simple. I realize it's frustrating to be on the receiving end. Usually the offending tanker can be taken out though it may take a couple of minutes. If it turns into a long drawn out spawn killing fest due to multiple tanks then good sportsmanship would dictate backing off a bit so a fun game can resume. Personally, I've changed to the side getting killed many times because I like a challenge. You get better by fighting uphill. Fortunately the maps in BF42 go by pretty quickly.

Re: spawn killing
I just think it takes away from the game.
Apparently I'm in the minority, when I spawn and before I even know where I am I'm flying through the air it isn't very fun.
Granted in some situations where that's the last base left I can see it, and I'd be a liar if I said I haven't engaged in the practice, but it's hard to have fun when your average lifespan can be measured in seconds.

Re: spawn killing
Ya, thats one of the reasons for the server messages:
Spawn attacks okay, If its ugly change teams and help them get out.
Of course sometimes when you are pounding the crap outta a team its hard to stopDon't like base campers, then defend your base.
Re: spawn killing
I've been on both ends of the spawn killin.
You can get out of the eternal slaughter after a while, you just have to keep fightin.
Sometimes if it is real bad i'll switch.
Depends on my mood.
I like the rules as they are.

Re: spawn killing
That is pretty much what I will do. If its getting really bad I may switch. It can make you very irritated when on the receiving end. You just gotta try and keep your cool.
I quite often find it is fun to try and break out of the situation I just have to know I am gonna die a lot and let it go
Try and sneak off and cap a base on the other side if you can or just spend the time trying to take out the Jerk in the tank.
Shoot for a 1 to 50 k/d ratio. Finally getting them out of your spawn can be rewarding.
On another note sometimes depriving the enemy of the resources of their main base is the quickest way to win a match.
Every enemy you make stay back at their main is one that's not gonna be bothering your front lines

Re: spawn killing
It can be frustrating when people go 'nuts' with the spawn camping! Usually the only way to get out of that situation is to fight as a team and clean them out, or sneak someone out and create a serious hassle in unprotected areas. However, there are times when nothing works and it makes for a very frustrating remaining map-time! I usually will ask people to chill some or switch, and if no-one responds I just wait for the next map. It is a part of the game.. base disruption.. and you do get much better at playing if you practice fighting your way out. It's tough, frustrating, and rarely rewarding. That's war baby!

Re: spawn killing
I remember a time when [JiF]Timmay or [Jif]Dispdave (prolly happened more than once, I don't learn) came into the allied base on Bocage as an engineer and land mined pretty much every vehicle. I jumped in three of them
I think the 4th time they shot me after spawn. I was seriously ticked and went hunting. Don't think I ever got my revenge that map.
It was pretty funny after I took my calm down pills, but it left a scar

Re: spawn killing
Spawn camping is pretty lame and can take away from the game. I strongly encourage people from doing it. However since spawn camping is usually a sign of a bad player I usually just spawn and then hunt him/her down. It's very rare that someone can camp against my team and not die a horrible, horrible, horrible death that involves some form of embarrassing text like 'Neener Neener'.
However spawn camping can be a pretty effective tactic and since most people like BF1942 because it comes kinda close to simulating real battle (for a game that's WAY old) it's worth noting that in war it is fair to bomb the other guys base. Also it's almost impossible to moderate and we tend to lean in the direction of mods spending most of their time on the server playing the game and as little as necessary moderating schmucks.
Speaking of people who never got revenged has anyone seen Audie? I can take him now.

Against Timmuh and Dave on BF1942 back when they were regulars I doubt you EVER got revenge. I'm sure you got them in FH tho.[JiF][AARP]Grimp wrote:Don't think I ever got my revenge that map.

By "take him now" he means he'll know where Audie was when he kills Sly. I used to count that as a victory.[JiF]Sly Gambit wrote:Speaking of people who never got revenged has anyone seen Audie? I can take him now.
