IE7 tomorrow?

Post by [JiF]Timmay! »

slashdot wrote:An anonymous reader writes, "Microsoft plans to push out Internet Explorer 7 as a 'high priority update' when it ships security patches tomorrow, according to Washingtonpost.com's Security Fix blog. That means anyone who has Windows configured to download and install patches automagically from Redmond will be greeted with IE7 next time they boot up their machines. In related news, it appears IE's worldwide market share actually increased a couple of points since July, despite a number of high profile zero-day attacks this year."

The article notes that the IE7 "containment wall" protected mode will not be available on XP, but only to those who purchase Vista.

I have been using IE7 at work and the good things I have noticed are: tab browsing, auto-magic print scaling (what you see on a web page prints without cutting it off).
Bad thing: They moved stuff around and I can't find stuff, for some reason it makes all the fonts in Outlook 2003 goofy and sorta laptop looking, try and open and ftp site and log in (you now have to select open in explorer window) maybe thats a security thing.

I have not researched any of this. These are just things I have noticed during general use.

IE7 is not bad. It does take a while to figure out the menu layout. Why it would be considered a 'high priority update' is beyond me. It seems that every time they have released a security patch for IE6 I have received the same fix for IE7 so it doesn't seem to be a security issue. :?:

Maybe they are just getting their ducks in a row for the eventual Vista release.

Well if I were compairing Timmay's accuracy to Microsofts I would guess that Microsoft feed Timmay bad information and delayed the product because they only want the best product to ship.

I just checked and it's today and not tomorrow. I'll keep you updated on when it is tomorrow.

You were not paying attention. It won't be tomorrow until the day after today.
