What's with 'Team Death Match' maps?

Post by [JiF]Sly Gambit »

I don't think there's a worse game out there then TDM in BF1942. Maybe on a handful of maps it could be interesting (Berlin?) but Penemude? Where one good nutter pilot can lock down the entire map? Yuck.

Is there really someone who wants to play those maps?

Ok. TDM maps -should- be off. I also added Husky Coop (people do like that) and Stalingrad CTF. I dunno about most people but Stalingrad was the best CTF map back in the day. Very even and very fun.

Hope people enjoy.

If you want another good CTF map with RTR it's Monte Santo Croce. Otherwise not so great in COOP or CQ mode, it's pretty intense in a well populated server in CTF mode.

But CTF has just one major snag, a lot of people join a server and never realise that it's a CTF game going on and never do anything to help the poor sap running away from the mob with a neon sign saying "Hey I'm here shoot me".

Oh come on. That was the funnest part. You had to have a good pilot in the bomber who could 'swoop up' guys carrying the flag. :)

But those maps are generally way too big for CTF.

Oh and I put Coop Gazala in the rotation last night. I think I added one other Coop but can't remember which. I'll see if I can add the (edit) CTF Monte.

Ah well, all this is moot now. :(

I'll have you know that MS Vista and PunkBuster's latest update don't marry for now. Can't play BF1942 anymore 'till Evenbalance figures out what's ailing my (and quite a few others I know of)access to BF1942 servers.

Have in the meantime.

This is why I always wait at least one service pack before getting the latest Windows. :)

Another update was released today - try using PBSetup to do a manual update. If you are still having trouble you might try the punkbuster forum, http://www.punksbusted.com/forums/index.php?. You should also know that some people - like myself - had trouble with PnkBstrA.exe and PnkBstrB.exe being blocked by anti-malware/spyware programs.

Thanks Badger, I already tried these avenues. After 2 support tickets sent to Evenbalance, they are still lookong for a cause to that issue. It seems to hit mainly people with Dell computers running Vista and McAfee AV/FW. I had the same problems initially with BF2142 but was able to correst them fairly easily but this one is baffling even the people who put out the update !

We'll see and in the meantime, I'll loose all my acquired skills, which fortunatly isn't much !
