To CD or NO CD "Patch" for BF1942
Hey guys, I know it's been around for a while, but does anyone use the no cd patch for bf1942? What are the benefits if any? Does it help with load times? Does it screw w/ PB? I'm considering trying it out.

I used it for a while, but when a patch was released for bf42 I got totally messed up and had to reinstall the whole game. I've since avoided noCD patches as that was a bigger pain then just dropping the CD in the drive.

Re: To CD or NO CD "Patch" for BF1942
I created a CD image of Bf1942 then mount it using Daemon Tools V4.10. This saves the problems associated with "no-CD patches" and punkbuster. I did the same thing for BFV, BF2 and Farcry. That way I could jump into any game without having to track down the CD (or DVD). To save space I later tracked down a mini-image of BF2 that works just fine.

Well pass them puppies on along as mine don't work anymore. I had all the ones you listed plus one for 2142 and they all stopped working.[JiF]ALargeWoodenBadger wrote:I created a CD image of Bf1942 then mount it using Daemon Tools V4.10. Daemon Tools recognizes quite a few formats. I use a BF1942 image in CCD format (cdclone). BF2 and Farcry are in MDS format (mini-images downloaded from gamecopyworld) and BFV is in ISO format.

I have no-cd on grandma and grandpa's laptop. No pb issues has occured.
If you are going to install a no-cd try avoid the exe instaler. It will overwrite some files you need in later use. The exe. file also add somthing registry wich may cause damage to the gamefiles.
When you add the no-cd rename the BF1942.exe, Mod.dll in mods/bf1942 folder and Mod.dll in the road to rome and secret weapons folder. Rename them, i repeat! Dont overwrite them in case some bad happends.

I'm running mine with NoCD patch ever since the combo DVD reader/CD burner drive in my old notebook had given up, i.e. a couple of years now already. Haven't had any issues with PB.
