Fortress Forever

Post by [JiF]Timmay! »

Mentioned on the old forums was Fortress Forever, a community-done version of TFC for HL2. I've been watching their forums for about 18 months and it's been sadly empty of actual content. Spam and kids a-plenty but that's about it.

This changed today with an actual gameplay video of their version of Dustbowl. Still a little rough but looks like it might be worth checking out, once they release the game. They've actually put a nice narration around the story of Dustbowl - aside from a couple pieces questionable language, I like it.

A selection of video resolutions and mirrors can be found on their main page: http://www.fortress-forever.com. They have definitely stayed with the old-style TFC models - doesn't look at all like Valves TF2.

FF was going to be released on the 17th and then the announcement came that TF2 beta was going to be released on the 17th. Well now I read in a few places that FF may be announcing the release of FF today. I guess we will have to watch and see what happens.

Looks like they just released the client, too..

The FF forums were a real turn off for me. I'm probably not going to try this unless y'all say it's really well done...

Here is a thread over at the FF forums with all kinds of links that people have posted that are hosting the file. Just as soon as my d/l is done I'll throw it up on my server for d/l also.

I guess I will try it, I'm really excited about TF2. When is the official release of TF2 anyway?

10/09/2007 although since it's Valve that date is ALWAYS subject to change. ;)
